2021 Public Outreach Efforts

Information Flyer

A one-page informational flyer on redistricting was included as part of the ballot materials mailed out on August 15, 2021, to all Santa Cruz County registered voters. The flyer included our webpage address.

Community Based Organizations

Monthly email blasts beginning in August were sent out to over 100 community-based organizations informing them about the supervisorial redistricting process, announcing public workshop and hearing dates, and the availability of 2020 Census data. Organizations were encouraged to share this information widely.

County Press Release

Press releases announcing redistricting efforts, public workshops, proposed supervisorial redistricting maps, and public hearings were emailed to residents and posted on several social media outlets.

Social Media

Posts featuring upcoming public events (workshops and public hearings) were posted on the Santa Cruz County Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels in both English and Spanish.

Digital and Print Media

Redistricting efforts were covered by local digital and print media outlets such as GoodTimes, the Pajaronian, Press Banner, Santa Cruz Sentinel, Lookout Santa Cruz and others throughout the process.

Online Event Calendar Listings

Public workshops and hearings were listed online on Patch.com, Nextdoor.com, Lookout Santa Cruz, Good Times Santa Cruz, Facebook, among others to be viewed/accessed by community members.

Public Workshops

Four workshops were held in North, Mid, and South County locations throughout the month of September to provide the public with information on supervisorial redistricting efforts and obtain public input. Translation services were available upon request.
