Santa Cruz County has issued a Proclamation of Existence of a Local Emergency. The Proclamation was sent to the State Office of Emergency Services and the Governor this morning.

MARTIN FIRE UPDATE: As of 9:30 am CAL Fire reports that approximately 700 to 900 acres have burned. Total fire personnel at 719, 21 fire crews, 69 engines, 11 air tankers, 10 water tenders and 7 helicopters have been assigned to the fire.

EVACUATION: Mandatory Evacuation orders have been made to approximately 1,500 residents in the following areas:
Towhee Road Warren
Quail Drive Martin Road
Smith Grade Pine Flat
Thayer Road Pine Ridge
Lupin Road Moore Ranch

SHELTER: San Lorenzo Valley Middle School continues to serve as the Red Cross shelter for the area. Residents should check in at the San Lorenzo Valley High Cafeteria at 7105 Highway 9 in Felton.

SCHOOLS: San Lorenzo Valley schools are conducting final classes as scheduled.

ANIMALS: Evacuated livestock have all been housed at the Graham Hill Showgrounds. Pets that need sheltering should be taken to Animal Services in Scott Valley at 27 Janus Way. For assistance with pets left behind due to evacuation orders, call Animal Services at 454-7303, select 1, and staff will be dispatched.

VOLUNTEERING TO ASSIST: The Volunteer Centers of Santa Cruz County are pre-registering individuals who are interested in providing volunteer support in response to the fire. Individuals can register by calling 831-427-5070 or going to www.scvolunteercenter.org <http://www.scvolunteercenter.org>.

The Red Cross does not accept volunteers at the shelter, so rather than going there to offer to help, people should work through the Volunteer Center.
