Seniors Eligible for Emergency Response Fee Exemption

The County of Santa Cruz has announced that seniors age 62 and over living in the unincorporated areas of the County are now able to file for exemption from the County’s Emergency Response Fee, commonly called the “911 Fee”.

A short, self-certification form which includes a self certification of age, name, address and telephone number(s) of the qualified senior are now available from the County Treasurer’s Office at 701 Ocean Street, Room 150 in Santa Cruz [mjd1] and on the County’s website at www.co.santa-cruz.ca.us.

The forms must be returned to the Treasurer’s Office where they will be compiled into a database that will be transmitted on a monthly basis to the various telephone service providers in the County.

The service providers will subsequently verify the name and telephone numbers for each applicant and make the necessary adjustments beginning with the next available customer billing.
