County Appoints Director of Child Support Services

Susan Mauriello, County Administrative Officer, announced today that, after conducting a lengthy national recruitment, she has appointed Katherine Sokolik as the County’s new Director of Child Support Services, effective October 15, 2007.

 

Ms. Sokolik has over 24 years managing and administering human services programs focusing on child support services.  For the past five years she has served as the Deputy Director of Child Support Services for the County of Marin. In this capacity, she has responsibility for the full range of child support services in the community, including staff training, automation, and the Quality Improvement Plans. She has also assisted with the implementation of the state's newest automation efforts and to worked on policy issues at the state level.

 

Prior  to joining Marin County, Ms. Sokolik worked with the Center for the Support of Families and was responsible for managing child support projects for the Federal Office of Child Support Management, State of Georgia, the State of Illinois, State of Hawaii, State of California, Los Angeles County, State of Virginia, State of Pennsylvania, and the State of South Carolina.

Ms. Sokolik has a Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington and a teaching certificate from the University of Puget Sound and has participated in numerous management training classes. 

 

Ms. Sokolik said, “I am really excited about coming to Santa Cruz to work with the staff and implement the new statewide computer system which will enable us to do even more to improve the services we provide to families in both Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.“
